Bandar Seri Begawan, [23 JULY 2024] – GoFeastival 2024, organized by GoMamam, with Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) as the official bank partner, is set to transform the way Bruneians experience community events by advocating for nationwide cashless payments. The event started on Saturday, 20th July 2024 and is expected to last until Sunday, 4th August 2024 at BIBD Connects, Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. GoFeastival features a vibrant array of vendors aimed at enhancing public awareness and adoption of digital payment solutions.
The event aims to highlight the numerous advantages of BIBD’s QuickPay, including convenience, security, and efficiency. By embracing digital payments, customers can enjoy a seamless and efficient transaction experience while contributing to the preparation of digital payment hub through increased cashless transactions.
The GoFeastival event commenced with a launching ceremony on Monday, 22nd July 2024, officiated by Yang Mulia Awang Junaidi bin Hj Masri, Managing Director and CEO of BIBD. This event highlighted the dedication of BIBD and GoMamam to fostering a completely cashless experience. Senior management from both BIBD and GoMamam, along with 50 participating vendors and representatives from other districts, were in attendance during the launching event.
Hadi Wahab, CEO of GoMamam, added that the importance of awareness to the public regarding digital transactions is vital to the digital transformation of Brunei. He further mentioned, “This event is a support for the MSME that has been the core of GoMamam since the very beginning. We thank BIBD for this collaboration and support that has been given to make this event a successful one, especially during the festivities in conjunction to His Majesty’s Birthday celebration’
Yang Mulia Junaidi Bin Bahrum, Deputy Head of the Retail Banking Group at BIBD, stated, “As the official bank partner, our primary goal with the inaugural GoFeastival 2024 is to create a platform that highlights the advantages of digital payments and supports the Government’s vision of transforming Brunei Darussalam into a smart nation. Through this event, we aim to enhance public understanding and adoption of digital payment practices, ultimately contributing to a more interconnected and efficient economy.”
Meanwhile Haji Shamri Hj Mahali, the Head of Corporate Business Developments, Corporate Banking Group, BIBD emphasized that the event is a part of the Bank’s ongoing initiative through BIBD SME 360 to bolster the MSME ecosystem. This is achieved by offering a sales platform to both new and growing MSME companies. The aspiration is that all participants will seize this opportunity to expand their business visibility to the public. Furthermore, it is hoped that the public will show their full support to these MSMEs.
He added, “BIBD was one of the supporters of DARE’s Proudly Brunei Awards, in which Gomamam was awarded the Startup Award. BIBD is dedicated to supporting high-potential MSMEs, recognising their crucial role in the nation’s economy. We are thrilled to witness these MSMEs develop and soar to new heights”.
GoFeastival 2024 will feature daily activities from 4:30 PM to 12:00 AM, offering a diverse range of food and beverage vendors, entertainment, and interactive sessions to engage attendees of all ages. Visitors can explore various digital payment methods offered by BIBD, reinforcing the message of convenience and reliability in everyday transactions.
