The BIMP-EAGA Business Council (BEBC) of Brunei Darussalam, led by the BEBC Chairman, Pengiran Haji Haris bin Pengiran Haji Duraman organized a presentation on Halal developments in Brunei for the international BEBC delegation members from the Philippines and Malaysia.
The objective of the series of presentations to promote awareness of Halal processes and services in Brunei for collaboration between BIMP-EAGA countries on potential investments to develop Halal products and the procurement of Brunei Halal consultancy and services.
In attendance to conduct a presentation on the Halal certification process was Hazimah Haji Ali from the Halal Food Control Division of the Ministry of Religious Affairs while a presentation of the Brunei Darussalam Food Authority (BDFA) was conducted by Hajah Siti Raihani binti Haji Abdul Hamid, CTO of BDFA. At the same time, Siti Fatin Kadir, Agriculture Officer from the Department of Agriculture and Agrifoood at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism conducted a presentation on food labelling requirements in Brunei Darussalam. The presentation event was held at the Darussalam Enterprise hall in Berakas.
In the afternoon, the international BEBC was taken on a tour to visit Sabli Food Industries at the Lambak Kanan West Industrial Park. Sabli Food Industries is one of Brunei’s largest and prominent food and beverage manufacturers. It is a leading Halal food producer and provides many famous food products loved in Brunei including its Corned Beef and Teh Tarik powder. A presentation of Sabli Food Industries products and services was conducted by its productions supervisor. BEBC of Brunei looks towards promoting Brunei food supplies and OEM collaborations between Brunei food manufacturers and other stakeholders within the BIMP-EAGA region.
