THE Ministry of Finance and Economy through its National Standards Centre (NSC) recently held a socialisation session to promote the launching of the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Accreditation Scheme (ISO 14065) at the Radisson Hotel in the capital.
The event held in collaboration with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) was an initiative under the EU-South East Asia Cooperation on Mitigating Climate Change impact from Civil Aviation for the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (EU SEA CCCA CORSIA).
The socialisation session aimed to promote the importance of GHG standard and introduce the specific principles and requirements for bodies performing validation and verification of environmental information statements – which are also useful for quantifying and reporting greenhouse gas emissions.
MOFE through the event also highlighted the importance of accreditation in assessing the competency and reliability of the Conformity Assessment Bodies, particularly on their roles in verifying and validating GHG emissions.
Launching the event was Director of Industry and Business Ecosystem (IBE) Division Allen On, in his capacity as the Director of NSC.
Present at the session were representatives from various government agencies, Royal Brunei Airlines and stakeholders from the various verification bodies in the sultanate.
