Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) today unveiled its 30th Anniversary Commemorative Gallery, as part of the festivities to celebrate the bank’s 30th anniversary milestone.
Launching the exhibition at the Dermaga Diraja Art Gallery in the capital was the Minister of Finance and Economy II and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Awang Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, in his capacity as chairman of BIBD.
The commemorative gallery features significant milestones throughout BIBD’s 30 years of history, beginning from the official launch of the Islamic Bank of Brunei Berhad (IBB) by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on January 13, 1993 to the merger between IBB and the Islamic Development Bank of Brunei (IDBB) into BIBD in 2005.
The exhibition also features developments beyond the merger leading to the present day.
BIBD Chairman YB Dato Dr Haji Awang Mohd Amin Liew said:
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, Shariah Advisory Body, management and staff of BIBD and its group of companies, we would like to thank His Majesty for his leadership and guidance over the years. I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone at BIBD for this milestone and, of course, our customers for their support over the years.”
“We will continue to invest in our people, in our IT systems and in our processes and we will always be conscious about what we can do to contribute towards society and to help the country to develop its economy,” he added.
Present during the launch were the Chairman and members of BIBD’s Shariah Advisory Body, members of BIBD’s Board of Directors, senior management and staff.
Members of the public are welcome to visit BIBD’s 30th Anniversary Commemorative Gallery. There will also be a range of interactive games and educational activities.
